Yutian Fang
Yutian (she/her) is a second-year PhD student at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management, UC Santa Barbara. She is one of the graduate mentors for the RISE fellowship program in summer 2023. During the program, she works with her undergraduate mentee, Tania Figueroa, in the systematic literature review project to explore global cases of temporary fisheries closures.Originally from Beijing, China, she had completed her B.S. degree in Marine Biology from UC San Diego in 2019, and Master of Environmental Management degree in Coastal Environmental Management from Duke University in 2021. Her research interest has largely focused on sustainable fishery management with the reduction of fishery bycatch, marine spatial planning and marine conservation. During her spare time, she enjoys watching TV shows, playing video games with her friends, and exploring the beach around Santa Barbara.
